【内容提要】围绕对新中国建国50余年来的国际体育外交回顾与阐述；分析、评价了新中国国际体育交流事业在不同历史时期对国家外交战略方针的作用与贡献。认为：中国参与国际奥林匹克事务在国家外交实践中有其特殊地位；对拓展中国全方位、多层次总体外交做出了重要贡献。

【英文摘要】chinas sports diplomacy for more than 50 years since the founding the peoples republic was historically reviewed and the functions and contributions of chinas international sports exchange to the nations diplomatic strategies in different historical period were analyzed and evaluated.it is concluded that chinas participation to the international olympic affairs occupies outstanding position in her diplomatic practicve and has greatly contributed to the development of chinas overall and multi-level diplomacy.
