abstract: this article reviews the summer symposium on translation in beijing and the topics discussed at the symposium, which include the new approaches of translation studies and translation teaching. it also discusses the main problems in translation studies and translation teaching in china.

盛夏时节，来自全国翻译界和教育界的约170名莘莘学子与24位名闻遐迩的翻译家和教育家汇聚于北京中国人民解放军军事科学院，进行了一场几近军事化的学术对垒和教学切磋。在短暂的十天时间里，学员们蓄势待发，情绪高涨，教员们则“兵来将挡，水来土掩”……这种与传统的学术研讨和教学模式大相径庭的新路向，给中国翻译和教学界注入了一种新的理念。
