Quick Start-up of Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) Reactor in Treating LandfilI Leachate

Abstract: Conditions for quick start-up of UASB reactor treating landfill leachate have been studied. The results show: at the embient water temptemperature in summer (25~ 30℃), when inoculated with surplus sludge from municipal wastewater treatment plant (which uses conventional activated sludge process) and cultivated step-by-step, and by controlling the liquid up-flowing speed at 3.0m/d, the UASB reactor can be started-up within 50 days in treating landfll leachate, with the organic loading rate (as CODcr) up to 10 kg/(m3.d).and the CODcr removal rate over 70%. Granulation of the sludge in this reactor can he completed within 90 days, which is 1~ 4 months shorter than with conventional start-up.

目前,在处理城市生活垃圾填埋场的渗滤液方面,世界上一些国家如新西兰、美国、澳大利亚等采用了UASB艺,运行效果良好[1]。我国也有实例,如福州、武汉、昆山等地在处理垃圾渗滤液时也有采用UASB工艺。但由于我国对这方面研究不足,使得相当一部分处理垃圾渗滤液的UASB反应器启动十分困难。为此,本研究侧重于为实现处理垃圾渗滤液的UASB反应器的快速启动提供实验依据和科学方法。
1 实验方法
1.1 实验装置
实验用UASB反应器采用内径为200 mm有机玻璃圆柱,高2.1m,总容积55L,有效容积50L,在高度方向上每隔300mm开一取样孔。
1.2 实验步骤及条件
①投加接种污泥,接种污泥投加量为UASB反应器有效容积的25%左右:接种污泥来自上海市某生活污水处理厂二沉池的剩余污泥,ρ(MLVSS)=5350mg/L。沉降性能良好。
②第一周将UASB反应器的有机负荷(以CODcr计)控制在0.5kg/(m3.d),以后每隔7d增加一次有机负荷,即有机负荷为1,2,4,7,10kg/(m3.d)。
③通过调节回流水量而控制整个启动期间液体上升流速(也即表面水力负荷)在3.0m周左右。
