作为“虚拟世界”的网络——一种文化社会意义上的梳理

[提要]网络走向社会已有11年的历程，对网络的概念进行历史性梳理，揭示出不同概念所折射的历史阶段的特点，抽象网络的本质，即网络对于人类的文化社会意义。由此出发，形成一个理解网络与传播、与传统媒体以及网络的自身发展方向等等的新框架。笔者认为网络的本质就是“虚拟世界”，而不是“传播介质”。

Abstract：Internet has a history of eleven years since it is served for the common people in China. We should study the conceptions describing the “Internet” in a historic view, discover the characteristics of different phrases reflected by those conceptions, and eventually find the nature of Internet, and the Internet’s cultural and social meaning toward the human being. Then we can develop a new framework which is suitable for understanding the relation between the Internet and communication or the traditional media, and the growth of itself. My opinion is that network is actually the virtual world, not the communicative media.
