揭开电视图像的“神话”面纱-图像意义生成过程演示

[摘 要]法国著名符号学家罗兰·巴特认为,符号学研究旨在对一切包裹着“自然法则”的现实作揭露;言语的过程是“神话”(myth)化的过程。对于文字符号而言,由于其能指在形象方面与所指几乎没有任何的相似处,所以言说与被言说之物的关系的非自然性就比较容易理解。而电视画面一类的图像符号(照片)似乎自动地具有自然性,因为画面与现场视觉有一致关系。但是,从符号意义生成机制来看,图像仍然是以意指作用的方式运作的,其能指和所指之间具有复杂的居间功能。因此,图像符号不仅在罗兰·巴特关于“现代神话”的论述的范畴中,而且其神话性在“自然法则”的包裹下,要比语言符号隐蔽得多。图像符号学的研究对于电视节目的生产者、接受者和批评者都具有直接的启示作用。 [关键词]电视图像;符号意义;神话 Abstracts: In famous French semiologist Roland Barthes’ opinion, analysis of semiology is aimed at disclosing the reality covered by “natural rules”, and parole is a kind of the process of making myth. It’s easier to understand arbitrariness of character-signs, because there is no any analogy between signifiers and signified of them. As to image-signs like television pictures, it seems that the coincidence between signifier and signified is natural. However, televisions pictures are worked in ways of signification, there are complex interactions between signifiers and signified of them. Therefore, image-signs in television pictures are very ambiguous, but they still in the bound of Roland Barthes’ modern mythology. Research of image-signs in television pictures will contribute a lot to producers, receivers and critics of television culture.
